ABOUT THE UNEXPECTED
Q: What happens if there is an emergency?
A: We are trained in dog first aid, so if your dog sustains a minor injury, we carry a first aid kit so we can deal with the incident there and then. If however, your dog is seriously injured on a walk, if possible we would get your dog back to our vehicle and go straight to either your vets at which point we would then contact you and/or your emergency contact. If we are unable to get your dog back to the car for whatever reason, we would call for either a vet call out or for one of Wet Nose Walks emergency contacts to come out and help with the situation. Your dog would never, under any circumstances be left alone.
Q: What if I need to cancel a walk?
A: If you need to cancel a walk, please give a minimum of 24 hours notice. If 24 hours notice is not given, the walk will still be charged.
Q: What happens if you are sick or unavailable?
A: If I am unavailable, if possible my partner would come out and see to your pets. She is also CRB checked and fully insured to both drive the company vehicle and under the public liability insurance (so insured to walk your dog and to hold your keys). She will sometimes accompany me on walks and pet visits so in this situation, your pet would be familiar with their walker and vice versa.
Q: Can I call, text, Whatsapp or email at short notice to request a walk or visit?
A: Absolutely! If possible a text or Whatsapp is much better than an email or phone call. I only check my emails once every day or so and I am often out with dogs so don't answer my phone. We will always try to fit your dog in, but due to being quite full, this isn't always possible.
Q: What happens if the weather is too hot or too cold?
A: In summer months when the weather is very hot we have various ways of keeping your dog cool. We always carry fresh water with us so your dog can keep hydrated. We try to avoid walking in full sun and instead choose routes where there is shade. If you are happy for your dog to play in water we will try to choose routes where this is available. We do not walk dogs long distances in hot weather but instead opt for treat searches, training or games that make your dog think or sniff which are not only calming, but also more tiring. Dogs are not in the van long periods and we try to keep car time to a minimum by walking in areas local to your dog. The car also has air conditioning to keep your pet cool. When the weather is particularly hot and humid we will not walk dogs in open full sun areas or on concrete between 11am and 3pm. We always reserve the right to terminate a walk early if we consider your pet may be suffering or cancel a walk if we think the conditions are too hot, however this doesn't mean that your pet won't have a full visit and you will be informed if this happens. Please talk to us about this when contacting us if you feel this may be an issue and we can discuss options.
In cold weather many dogs are still happy to go out walking. If you think it is too cold for your dog, or the snow is too deep to walk your dog, you may wish to have a home visit instead which can be discussed. If you have a coat you would like your dog to wear, please let us know and we will ensure that it is used. In the event of snow we will make every effort to get to you, but if we are unable to drive, we will endeavour to get to your pet by foot or if possible another vehicle. We would then walk your dog straight from your house rather than driving to another location. Again, we reserve the right to terminate a walk part way through or cancel a walk if we think your pet may be suffering.

If weather is severe meaning travelling is dangerous and therefore much slower, walks will be cut short or only pee breaks given (depending on what length of walk you have booked) to ensure I can get to all clients that still need visiting. In these circumstances, walks will still be charged at the normal rate, however, the walk cancellation charge will also not be applied if you wish to cancel.
